Cutting of the first steel plate for 3‘500 m3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger

Cutting of the first steel plate for the new project –  3‘500 m3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger „Minerva” took place at MTG Dolphin on 4th of February 2016. 
The sections for the ship will be built again in cooperation with the Dutch Royal IHC company, and the Client is Belgian DEME – Dredging Environmental and Marine Engineering N.V.
This vessel has bigger capacity than the previously built dredgers in the Yard – her hopper is of 3500 m3 and she is the first dredger using the “dual fuel” technology for the work of the main engines – with diesel or LNG.


The ship will be equipped with 80 cm suction tube, suitable for dredging to a depth of 30 m. the dredging material will be discharged through three bottom doors to a floating line or rainbow nozzle.
